Our Mission

All Sato Rescue (ASR) is a nonprofit organization dedicated to improving the lives, and reducing the numbers, of abandoned dogs in Puerto Rico. (Sato is Puerto Rican slang for a stray mutt.) We rescue and rehome Satos, and we also strive to address the root causes of overpopulation, abuse, and neglect through initiatives aimed at raising public awareness, facilitating low-cost spay and neuter, and expanding the involvement of the judiciary and government in implementing humane solutions.

Our History

All Sato Rescue (ASR) was founded in October 2008 by Edilia Vazquez and Maritza Rodriguez, both veteran animal welfare advocates. Though a relatively new organization, ASR embodies more than 20 years' experience in promoting animal welfare and conducting hands-on rescue work. Between them, Edilia and Maritza have rescued and rehomed thousands of dogs and cats. But it was in the course of saving these many lives that they realized the real key to making lasting improvements for animals was in addressing the root causes of animal overpopulation, abandonment, and cruelty. Otherwise, there will always be more dogs in need of rescue than homes in need of dogs.
